For around $30 do-it-yourselfers can custom size one. Wood skewers are available at almost any dollar store at $1 per pack of 100. The number of skewers can range from 1,400 to 2,500 depending on the size box you assemble. Skewers should be snug but not tight.

The hard way is to use lumber pieces, varnish or wax, glue, sanding, etc.

I purchased a wood tissue cover, turned it upside down, cut a wood insert to cover the hole and cut the skewers length to extend 2" above the rim. Our box holds 8+ knives. You can glue the skewers or leave them loose so they can be replaced in the future. If loose they may pop out slightly.

Silicone, Neoprene, Ultrasuede and Sunbrella are at the top of my list for useful boat materials. The silicone pot holders are used for far more than holding hot pots, they keep cups and flotsom from sliding in the microwave, on the counter, on the cockpit floor, etc. while we're rocking or in motion.
